What Really Happened ... Rachel Revere Book Illustration

Rachel Revere, second wife of Paul Revere - In 1773 Paul Revere's first wife Sarah died, leaving behind six surviving children, and Revere married Rachel Walker, wiith whom he would have five more surviving children. I drew this based on a miniature brooch portrait. I couldn't find any other reference images to use.

You can tell how much 'folky" the brooch portrait was perspective wise.

Yes, nobody has shoulders that slope like that! I'd like to "correct" it, but who knows what "correct" would be...I'm sure they shaped it like that to fit the oval of the brooch.

What I meant was that the original artist was a folk artist and you can tell by the perspective of the facial features, and yes the shoulder is also out of perspective. I love your portraits. You are a much better pencil artist than me and my husband are. Very true to life. I found after years of being trained in the fine arts that is was too confining, so i switched to folk art with all it's imperfections.. That way I didn't have to keep redoing things.. Because it was finally good enough! Folk art is so perfectly imperfect. haw haw

Yes, the perspective was very flat. I was interested in your art too, because I love the German fraktur style...don't know if that's because my grandfather's family was German or what! I also love to do calligraphy, draw greeting cards, etc. I love lots of styles, but I learned not to show too many styles on my website because it can confuse site visitors about what I offer them.
